Heritage & Culture

Clan Jetties (Chew Jetty)

Chew Jetty is a historic Chinese waterfront settlement in George Town, known for its wooden houses on stilts, cultural significance, and scenic boardwalk. It is one of the oldest and most visited clan jetties in Penang.

Located just a 6-minute drive or 15-minute walk from Fifth Avenue Hotel Penang.

Visitors can stroll along the boardwalk, see traditional houses, visit the temple, and enjoy local snacks and souvenirs. The jetty is a living community, so respect residents' privacy. Early mornings or late afternoons are the best times to visit for fewer crowds and beautiful lighting. Sunset is particularly popular.

There is no entrance fee. Public restrooms are available for a small fee. Donations to the temple are appreciated. Support local vendors by purchasing handmade items or snacks.
