Arriving by Train (Via Butterworth on the Mainland)
Penang Island does not have a railway station. Instead, all train services terminate at Butterworth Railway Station (KTM ETS / KTM Komuter) on the mainland of Penang (Seberang Perai). Butterworth is Penang’s mainland gateway, and offers easy connections to the island via ferry or bridge.
Travelling from Butterworth to George Town (Penang Island):
Option 1: By Ferry

From Butterworth Railway Station, walk to the adjacent Penang Sentral transport hub, where the Raja Tun Uda Ferry Terminal is located.

Take the Penang Ferry across to George Town (Pengkalan Weld Terminal).

Arriving by Ferry (From Mainland to Island)
The historic Penang Ferry service connects mainland Butterworth to George Town Ferry Terminal (Pengkalan Weld) on the island. This remains a scenic and practical option for pedestrians, motorists, and cyclists.
Duration: Approximately 10 minutes per crossing.
Frequency: Regular daily services between 6:30am to 8:30pm.
From Pengkalan Weld Ferry Terminal, it is a short taxi or Grab ride to Fifth Avenue Hotel Penang.
Arriving by Express Bus (Via Butterworth / Penang Sentral)
Long-distance express buses typically terminate at Penang Sentral in Butterworth.
Option 1: Via Ferry
From Penang Sentral, walk to the connected ferry terminal and follow the same steps as above to reach George Town.
Option 2: Direct Bus to George Town
