Dhammikarama Burmese Temple
Dhammikarama Burmese Temple, established in 1803, is the oldest Burmese Buddhist temple in Penang. Located on Jalan Burma, it is known for its golden stupas, serene gardens, and intricate architecture.
The temple is a 10-minute drive from Fifth Avenue Hotel Penang. Ride-hailing services are convenient.
Visitors can explore the ornate prayer halls, admire the marble Buddha statue, and relax in the peaceful gardens. Modest dress is required (shoulders and knees covered); sarongs are available. Footwear must be removed before entering hall areas.
The temple is open daily. Mornings (7–9 AM) are the best time to visit for a quiet experience. Donations are appreciated. Major festivals like Vesak offer a vibrant cultural experience.
