Gurney Drive Hawker Street is a famous open-air food court along the seafront in George Town, known for its wide variety of local street food in a lively, casual setting.
Located about a 10-minute drive or 25-minute walk from Fifth Avenue Hotel Penang, near Gurney Plaza.
Must-try dishes include assam laksa, oyster omelette, rojak, and satay. The area is family-friendly and spacious. Evenings from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM are the most vibrant, though weekdays are less crowded.
Bring cash, as most vendors do not accept cards. Shared seating is common. There is no entrance fee - pay per dish. Parking can be limited, so ride-hailing is convenient.
