Kerachut Beach Turtle Conservation & Information Centre

Kerachut Beach is a pristine and protected beach within Penang National Park, known for its seasonal meromictic lake and turtle conservation center.

The drive from Fifth Avenue Hotel Penang to the park headquarters in Teluk Bahang takes 45–60 minutes. From there, access is via a 2-hour jungle hike or a 20-minute boat ride (approx. RM150–200 round trip for a boat for up to 8 people).

Highlights include the Turtle Conservation Centre (seasonal hatchling releases, April–August), the unique meromictic lake (visible Dec–Apr), and swimming in clear waters. The jungle trail offers wildlife spotting.

There is no park entrance fee. Bring water, snacks, sun protection, and insect repellent. Wear sturdy shoes for the hike. The beach has basic facilities but no food vendors. Swimming is at your own risk; there are no lifeguards.

The park is open 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Mornings are best for cooler hiking temperatures. Boat services must be arranged in advance.
