Nagore Durgha Shrine
Nagore Durgha Shrine is a historic Muslim shrine in George Town, built in 1801 by Tamil Muslim traders. It features a unique blend of Dravidian and Islamic architecture.
Located just a 5-minute walk from Kapitan Keling Mosque on Chulia Street.
Highlights include its ornate minarets, central dome, and historical relics. Modest dress is required (shoulders and knees covered). Remove shoes before entering.
Open daily. No entrance fee, but donations are appreciated. Mornings (8–10 AM) are the best time to visit for a quiet experience. Avoid prayer times, especially midday. The annual Urs festival (March–April) features cultural celebrations.
