Penang Hill Funicular Train
Penang Hill Funicular Train is a historic railway that ascends 720 meters to the summit of Penang Hill, offering scenic views of George Town and the surrounding rainforest.
The Lower Station is a 25-minute drive from Fifth Avenue Hotel Penang, located in Air Itam near Kek Lok Si Temple.
The ride takes approximately 5 minutes. Tickets cost RM40 for foreign adults and RM20 for children (discounted for Malaysians). Advance online booking is recommended to avoid queues.
Operating hours: 6:30 AM to 11:00 PM. Mornings (9–11 AM) on weekdays are less crowded. Late afternoons offer sunset views. Bring a light jacket for cooler temperatures at the summit. Priority boarding is available for families.
