Nature & Parks

Penang National Park

Penang National Park is a protected area at the northwestern tip of Penang Island, featuring rainforest, beaches, and diverse wildlife. It is Malaysia’s smallest national park but rich in natural attractions.

The drive from Fifth Avenue Hotel Penang to the park headquarters in Teluk Bahang takes 40–50 minutes.

Key sites include Pantai Kerachut (with a seasonal meromictic lake and turtle conservation center), Monkey Beach, and the Canopy Walkway (RM5 permit). Access is via jungle trekking (1.5–2 hours to Kerachut) or by boat (RM70–150 for a group, depending on destination).

Register for a free entry permit at the park headquarters. Open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Boat services end by 5:30 PM. Bring sturdy shoes, insect repellent, water, and snacks. No food vendors are inside the park. Avoid visiting during the monsoon (September–November).
