St. George's Anglican Church
St. George’s Church is the oldest Anglican church in Southeast Asia, completed in 1818 and a key example of British colonial architecture in Penang.
It is located on Lebuh Farquhar in the heart of George Town, just a ten-minute drive from Fifth Avenue Hotel Penang.
Highlights include its Georgian neoclassical style with grand Doric columns, the Francis Light Memorial on its grounds, and a serene interior with original wooden pews and stained glass windows. Modest dress is required (shoulders and knees covered) and hats should be removed.
Open throughout the week. The best time to visit is on weekday mornings from 9 AM to 11 AM.
No entrance fee. Photography is permitted without flash.
