Wat Chayamangkalaram is located approximately a 15-minute drive from Fifth Avenue Hotel Penang, making it an easily accessible cultural attraction for guests. Visitors can reach the temple conveniently by taxi or ride-hailing services, which are readily available around the hotel. For those who prefer public transport, Rapid Penang buses 101, 102, and 103 run routes that include stops near Pulau Tikus. Inform your driver when boarding to ensure you alight at the correct stop.


This historic Thai Buddhist temple, established in 1845 on land granted by Queen Victoria, is renowned for housing one of the world's longest reclining Buddha statues. As you enter the temple grounds, you will be greeted by the impressive 33-meter gold-plated reclining Buddha, representing the Buddha's passing into Nirvana. The statue also serves as a columbarium, containing the ashes of devotees within its base.
